A mountaineering classic, this is the official description of the first ascent
of Mount Everest by the expedition leader, Sir John Hunt. It includes a chapter
on the final assault by Sir Edmund Hillary and a foreword by Prince Philip, the
Duke of Edinburgh. There are nine appendix with extensive details on the
planning, equipment, nutrition, and more. This book has seven color
photographs, 48 B&W photographs, and six maps.
This is a 1st edition, third printing, published in February 1954 in the USA.
It is in very good overall condition. The cover has some chips missing but is
now protected by archival plastic. A fine example of essential Everest
literature for the collector!
I personally collected Ed's signature at the the 2000 Banff Summit Festival.
